Dr. Samaras

Dr. SamarasOur medical practice was established by Dr. Samaras, a native Annapolitan, in 1974. He completed his training in Internal Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and Maryland General Hospital where he also was Chief Medical Resident. During that time, he continued his studies in Nephrology.

Dr. Samaras has served as Chief of Medicine at Anne Arundel Medical Center and is currently a member of the Medical Executive Committee and President of the Medical staff.

He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, and recognized by the Maryland State Board of Physician Quality Assurance as a Specialist in Nephrology. He is married and the proud father of six children. His passion is enjoying the academic and sports achievements of his children, and golf.

Dr Samaras has taken on new administrative responsibilities at Anne Arundel Medical Center and remains with Annapolis Internal Medicine in emeritus status, only.

Dr. Friend and Medical Asst. Barbara

Dr. FriendDr. Friend is a native of Pennsylvania and earned his B.S. at the University of Pittsburgh, and his medical degree for the University of Maryland Medical School. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at the Washington Hospital Center in Washington D.C. and Endocrinology fellowship at the Penn state-Hershey Medical Center. He practices Internal Medicine and consultative Endocrinology (diabetes, thyroid, adrenal, pituitary and gonadal abnormalities) and is Board certified in both fields.

For many years he was involved with the Anne Arundel County chapter of the American Diabetic Association. He admits and follows his patients at AAMC and participates in AAMC committees and conferences. He is married and has three children and three grandchildren. His wife Carol had been active in the Medical Alliance and was co-founder of the Ballard Health Center.

The Friend family enjoys snow and water skiing, hiking, biking, sailing and fishing. Dr. Friend and his wife also enjoy the wonderful cultural activities of the Annapolis area and regularly attend performances of the Colonial Players and Annapolis Symphony.

Dr. Goldstein and Medical Asst. Chevonne

Dr. GoldsteinDr. Goldstein was trained at the New York University School of Medicine and completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the George Washington University Medical Center. He then served as Chief Medical Resident at GWU for one year and received additional training in Cardiology.

He remained on the faculty at GWU as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine for one year, and then joined this practice in 1981. He has been active in medical education, and served for eight years as the Chairman of the Anne Arundel Medical Center's Medical Education Committee. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He has three daughters. Sailing, basketball, and music are great loves. He aspires to conduct the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra some day.

Dr. Hamilton and Medical Asst. Carse

Dr. HamiltonDr. Hamilton received both his undergraduate and medical school degrees from Duke University before completing his Internal Medicine internship and residency at the University of Iowa. After practicing in Cincinnati, OH and Kilmarnock, VA he moved to Annapolis and joined the practice in 1991. He most values family time with his three children, but also enjoys boating and a wide variety of outdoor sports including snow and waterskiing, rowing and cycling.

Dr. Hamilton believes that a healthy lifestyle and taking the time to build good mental health are the cornerstones to one's general well-being, and he tries to emphasize preventative medicine in his approach to patient care.

Dr. Smadja-Gordon and Medical Asst. Tracey

Dr. Smadja-GordonDr Smadja-Gordon received a Baccalaureate of Sciences then studied medicine and presented her doctoral thesis at the University Francois Rabelais in Tours, France, a lovely city in the heart of France where she grew up.

She came to the USA with her American husband and completed her residency in Internal Medicine at St Agnes Hospital in Baltimore. She pursued her interest in Endocrinology and Metabolism with fellowship training at the Georgetown University Hospital.

She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology and Metabolism.

Dr Smadja-Gordon has been practicing medicine in Annapolis since 1988 and focuses her practice almost exclusively on consultative Endocrinology, Metabolism and Diabetology. She is active in community education, especially in the field of Diabetes.

Dr Smadja-Gordon enjoys her free time with her husband and son and her love of the arts, movies, literature, flowers and of course French pastries!

Dr. Abraham and Nurse Katie

Dr. AbrahamDr. Titus C. Abraham was born in India and raised in the Bahamas and Jamaica. He came to Maryland as a teenager where he completed his high school and college education. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Maryland and completed his Internal Medicine residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center.

Dr. Abraham joined the practice after being a Hospitalist at Anne Arundel Medical Center (AAMC), where he has been a member of the medical staff since 2002. Dr. Abraham has been a member of AAMC's Board of Patient Quality and Safety, which oversees quality improvement at the medical center.

His years of experience and dedication to his patients have earned him the professional and personal respect and trust of the medical, surgical and nursing staff at AAMC and in the community.

He believes that the doctor-patient relationship is a partnership and seeks to involve patients in the medical decision making process. His expertise is in the management of the medically complex patient including, but not limited to, those with hypertension, heart disease, chronic lung disease, and diabetes. He stresses preventative health care bringing to his practice a holistic understanding of health and wellness.

He is married, has two sons and enjoys traveling with his family.

Dr. Groszkowski and Medical Asst. Heather

Dr. GroszkowskiOriginally from Reisterstown, Maryland, Dr. Groszkowski received his undergraduate degree from Harvard University and his medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine. Upon graduating from medical school, he entered Active Duty service in the United States Navy where he completed a Transitional Internship at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, in Portsmouth, Virginia. After internship, he attended the Naval Flight Surgeon Training Course in Pensacola, Florida where he was designated as a Naval Flight Surgeon. He then was assigned to Naval Health Clinic Annapolis as the Flight Surgeon for the United States Naval Academy. Dr. Groszkowski finished his Active Duty Naval service in 2007 and completed his residency training in Internal Medicine at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.

Dr. Groszkowski's experiences in the Navy have shown him the importance of preventive medicine in the promotion of wellness through routine physical exams and screening tests. For patients with chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia and heart disease, he takes a comprehensive approach in order to best manage these conditions. Dr. Groszkowski also has an interest in travel medicine, sports medicine and dermatology.

Dr. Groszkowski is pleased to have settled in Annapolis, where he enjoys being out on the water, running, organic gardening, and spending time with his wife and three young children.

Dr. Milne-Krohn and Medical Asst. Ka'Shya

Dr. Milne-KrohnDr. Milne-Krohn is originally from Highland, Maryland and received a B.S. in microbiology at the University of Maryland at College Park and a Master of Science in Physiology from Georgetown University. She then went on to receive her medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in 2005. She completed her internship and residency at Georgetown University Hospital and served as Primary Care Chief Resident at Georgetown. During her residency training, she received the Internal Medicine department's Ambulatory Care Award for Excellent Patient Care. She has a particular interest in preventative medicine.

She lives with her husband and 2 young sons. She enjoys reading and spending time with her family.

Dr. Anderson and MA Brenda

Dr. AndersonDr. Anderson grew up in Laurel, Maryland. After graduating from Eleanor Roosevelt High School she went on to get her Bachelor of Science at The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. After college she was happy to return to Maryland to attend medical school at the University of Maryland. She stayed on at The University of Maryland and completed her Internal Medicine residency in 2011. Dr. Anderson enjoys the diversity of practicing general Internal Medicine and also has special interests in infectious diseases and gastrointestinal disorders. In her free time she likes spending time outdoors, especially, bicycling and running.

Dr. Sourwine and MA Arlene

Dr. SourwineDr. Sourwine, originally from Gaithersburg, MD, is an avid Nittany Lion having earned her undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering and masters degree in bioengineering from Penn State University. She worked for several years in biomedical engineering at the National Institutes of Health before going on to earn her medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. She completed her internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, MD. She is interested in incorporating the latest technology into medical practice. She currently lives in Severn with her husband, two young sons, and golden retriever, Sequoyah. She enjoys spending time by the water, cooking, gardening and long walks with her dog.

Sara Adelman, NP

Sara Adelman, NPSara Adelman lived in both New York City and Connecticut prior to attending Franklin and Marshall College in Pennsylvania. While in college, she had the opportunity to study in France while volunteering for the French Red Cross in Marseille, which served as the foundation for her interest in nursing. In 2000 she moved to Maryland and attended Johns Hopkins University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and then a subsequent Masters of Science degree in Nursing. She is an active member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and her current specialty is primary care of adult patients with a special interest in patient education and wellness promotion. She feels it is important to help patients develop a proactive approach towards their health and to feel empowered in the prevention and treatment of diseases.

Sara currently lives on the Eastern Shore, and enjoys spending time by the Bay with her husband and three Labrador Retreivers.

Wynn Boyle, NP, CDE

Wynn Boyle, NP, CDEMrs. Boyle's specialty is caring for patients with diabetes. She is a certified Nurse Practitioner and certified Diabetes Educator offering individualized counseling and education. Having diabetes can be overwhelming. Mrs. Boyle can help you learn the skills and knowledge necessary to implement healthy lifestyle changes that are needed to control your blood sugars and prevent long term complications. Changing attitudes and behaviors about food and exercise are essential for success. Mrs. Boyle will work withyou to help you identify areas for change and ways to implement a healthier lifestyle.

Wynn was born in New York City but moved to Annapolis when she was 2 weeks old and has lived here all her life. After graduating from Key School, she received her BSN from Johns Hopkins University and then a MSN in nursing education from University of MD. After teaching at University of Md and AACC, she went back to school for a post Masters Nurse Practitioner from Johns Hopkins Universit . Her focus as a nurse practitioner is adult primary care and diabetes education.

When Wynn is not working, she loves vacationing with her family on trips to go skiing, sailing, biking & boating. Summers are spent at their beach house in Dewey Beach Delaware or on their whaler on the Severn River. She married her high school sweetheart and they have 3 children.

Eileen Delaney, NP

Eileen Delaney, NPEileen is a native of West Chester Pennsylvania. She is a diploma graduate of Episcopal Hospital school of Nursing in Philadelphia. She earned a BSN from LaSalle University in Philadelphia and a MSN from Old Dominion University in Norfolk Virginia. She is certified as a Family Practice Nurse Practitioner.

She loves to travel and was able to combine this with her Nursing interests by being a Travel Nurse for 4 years early in her career. This allowed her to live and work in Hawaii, Florida and Palm Springs, San Francisco and San Luis Obispo, California. She then joined the Navy and served 4 years in the Navy Nurse Corps. She was stationed at the Naval Hospital San Diego (old and new), and Naval Hospital Bremerton. She continued her travels and nursing as the wife of a Naval Officer, moving every 2 years. The highlight of this was living in Gaeta, Italy where her second child was born.

She moved to Annapolis in 2002 when her husband retired from the Navy. Her interests include cooking, sewing, decorating, reading, girls softball, baseball and all family activities with her husband and children. She loves working with the local Annapolis community and living in an area where she is constantly running into old Navy Friends.

Susan Moreland, NP

Susan Moreland, NPA native of Maryland, Susan attended the University of Maryland and received both her BSN and MS degree from UMAB. After graduation she worked in oncology at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, AAMC and several outpatient oncology practices. She then returned to school, obtaining her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from The Johns Hopkins School of Nursing. She then joined the faculty at The Catholic University of America in 2009 as a Clinical Assistant Professor. She continues to work there full-time and at Annapolis Internal Medicine on a part-time basis. She enjoys the teaching aspect of both jobs, as health promotion is an integral part of the Nurse Practitioner role.

Susan lives with her husband in Davidsonville and has three grown children.

Kastle Donovan, NP

Kastle Donovan, NPKastle Donovan grew up in Danville, California and attended college at The George Washington University in Washington, DC, where she obtained her Bachelor's of Science in Biology in 2003. She then attended Marymount University in Arlington, VA for her Associate's degree, and six years later, her Master's degree in nursing. She conducted a portion of her student nurse practitioner clinical hours at Annapolis Internal Medicine in the walk-in clinic, and was fortunate to join the staff officially in August of 2011. She has been a board- certified Family Nurse Practitioner since June 2011.

Kastle worked for six years as a critical care and trauma nurse at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, VA in their trauma intensive care and step-down units. She holds nursing certifications in both progressive and critical care nursing, and she is currently an active member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and the Nurse Practitioner Association of Maryland.

Kastle currently resides in Highland Beach, MD with her husband, her new baby boy, and their parakeet Sidney. She and her husband enjoy kayaking, running, snowboarding, cheering for the Washington Caps, and sampling all the fine cuisine Annapolis has to offer.

Amy Ricker, NP

Amy Ricker, NPAmy is originally from Hagerstown, MD. She obtained her undgergraduate degree in Biology with a minor in Psychology from Salisbury University. She then went onto obtain a second bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of Maryland. Following that, she obtained her Master's from University of Maryland as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Prior to joining Annapolis Internal Medicine, Amy worked an Emergency Medicine nurse for 6 years.

She currrently resides in Annapolis with her husband, children and two dogs. She enjoys travelling, outdoor activities, and spending time with her family.

Joan Braaten, RDCS

Joan Braaten, RDCSJoan Braaten is a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (R.D.C.S), and performs the Echocardiogram studies in our office. Joan was born and raised in Anne Arundel County. She graduated from University of Maryland with Bachelor of Science degree. She also attended the School of Cardiovascular Technology in Norfolk, VA, specializing in Echocardiography. She is married and has three children. She enjoys playing the Irish Fiddle and escaping to her cabin in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. Joan has been with Annapolis Internal Medicine since April 2004.

Mark Bates, RVT

Mark Bates, RVTMark Bates is a Registered Vascular Technologist (R.V.T) with over 20 years of clinical vascular testing experience and is currently the president of Vascular Imaging Associates. Mr. Bates is credited with being an expert in the field of venous imaging and varicose vein ablation services. Mr. Bates has held the title of Technical Director of the Vascular Institute at the Pat Sajak Medical Pavilion, Clinical Manager of Non Invasive Vascular Laboratory Services at Anne Arundel Medical Center and more recently Clinical Director of Non Invasive Vascular Laboratory Services at Georgetown University Hospital. Mark has been a partner in patient care with AIM since 2005.

Dr. Ganesan

Dr. GanesanDr. Ganesan grew up in Rockville, Maryland. She then went on to receive a B.A. in British and American Literature at Pacific Union College in Angwin, California, followed by her medical degree at Loma Linda University. After medical school Dr. Ganesan decided she was away from home long enough and returned to Maryland. She completed her residency in internal medicine and served as Primary Care Chief Resident at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland.

Dr. Ganesan has a special interest in obesity and nutrition with an emphasis on preventative medicine. She spends her free time cooking, traveling and running.

Dr. Cuhran

Dr. CuhranDr. Cuhran grew up in New Castle, Pennsylvania about an hour north of Pittsburgh. She is a proud Penn Stater having earned her B.S. at Penn State University in 2006. She went on to receive her medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 2010. She then stayed at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center to complete her residency in Internal Medicine in 2013.

Dr. Cuhran genuinely believes in getting to know each and every patient as a person in order to provide him/her with the best possible medical care, and she strives to partner with each patient to develop his/her own personalized plan for success.

She and her husband are happy to make Maryland their new home. Dr. Cuhran enjoys boating, waterskiing, hiking, running, watching Pittsburgh Penguins hockey, and listening to classic rock music.
